The Dead We Knew platforms situation is simple: PC via Steam (Windows) is the only confirmed platform. No console version of any kind has been announced, and Metacritic lists the game for PC only. The table below sums up every platform's status, followed by the details.
| Platform | Status | | --- | --- | | PC (Steam, Windows) | Confirmed — releases September 17, 2026 | | PS5 | Not announced — TBC | | Xbox Series X/S | Not announced — TBC | | Nintendo Switch / Switch 2 | Not announced — TBC | | Steam Deck | Compatibility "Unknown" — not yet verified | | Mac / Linux | Not announced |
The One Confirmed Platform: PC on Steam
THE DEAD WE KNEW: Open World Survival launches on Steam for Windows on September 17, 2026. It is a 64-bit Windows game requiring DirectX 12 — Windows 10 at minimum, Windows 11 recommended. No macOS or Linux version appears in the system requirements or anywhere else. The Steam page (appid 4890760) is not just the store listing; with no official website or social channels, it is the developer's entire public presence.
As a game, it is an open world survival title: scavenging, crafting, shelter building, hunting and farming, against zombies and hostile AI survivors, on a 24-hour day-night cycle with dynamic weather. The PC version supports single-player and online co-op for up to four players, Family Sharing, and eleven languages including Simplified Chinese. Minimum specs call for 12 GB of RAM and a GTX 1070-class GPU; the recommended tier asks for 24 GB of RAM and an RTX 2080-class card. Full system requirements and language details are covered in our Steam page guide.
Console Versions: Nothing Announced
No PS5, Xbox or Switch version has ever been mentioned by anyone official. We checked the PlayStation Store, the Xbox/Microsoft Store, rating boards such as ESRB and PEGI, and major games media — there is no listing, no rating and no report of a console edition. Metacritic's platform field lists PC and nothing else. The only age ratings the game holds anywhere — 14+ in Brazil, USK 16 in Germany, 18+ in Indonesia — were issued for the PC release.
The developer has also never said anything about consoles — not even the usual "PC first, consoles later" line. MAY19 STUDIO is a new Korean studio self-publishing its first game, and a PC-only Steam debut is the lowest-friction path to market. Any site claiming a console version is coming is speculating. We cover the console question in detail on our PS5, Xbox and console pages.
Steam Deck: Unknown
Valve has not rated the game for Steam Deck — its compatibility status is "Unknown", which simply means untested. ProtonDB has an entry for the appid but holds no community reports yet, which is expected for an unreleased game.
Whether it will run well on Deck is genuinely open. The minimum GPU target (a GTX 1070-class card) is well above the Deck's hardware, but minimum specs are written for desktops and say little about handheld performance at low settings. Deck playability: TBC until Valve or players test it after launch — we will update this page once a verdict exists.
Cross-Platform Play: Not Applicable (For Now)
Crossplay requires more than one platform, and today there is only one. Online co-op for up to four players is a PC-to-PC feature. If a console version ever materializes, cross-platform support would be a fresh question with no existing answer from the developer.
Where to Follow Platform News
There is no official website, Twitter/X or YouTube channel to watch — the Steam page is the only channel that matters. Wishlisting the game gets you a release email from Valve, and any platform announcement would have to appear on that store page first to be real.
A Discord server exists but its invite URL is unconfirmed (TBC); the studio's support email (mayondokuz@gmail.com) is listed on Steam. As always, treat the official Steam page as the authoritative source for platform information.
