The Dead We Knew Console Versions: PS5, Xbox & Switch

FILED: 2026-08-12 // CLEARANCE: PUBLIC

The Dead We Knew console status, in one sentence: there are no console versions. THE DEAD WE KNEW: Open World Survival — an open world survival game of scavenging, crafting, base building and co-op for up to four players — has been announced for PC (Steam, Windows) only. Nothing for PS5, Xbox or Switch exists in any official capacity as of August 2026. This page is the complete overview.

Console Status at a Glance

| Console | Status | | --- | --- | | PS5 | Not announced — no store page, no rating, no statement | | Xbox Series X/S | Not announced — no store page, no rating, no statement | | Nintendo Switch / Switch 2 | Not announced — never mentioned |

Metacritic, which indexes games per platform, lists the title for PC and nothing else. Rating boards that primarily cover console releases — ESRB and PEGI — have no record of the game at all. The only ratings it holds are for the PC release: 14+ in Brazil, USK 16 in Germany, 18+ in Indonesia. No console storefront, database or media outlet shows anything different.

What the Developer Has (Not) Said

MAY19 STUDIO has never said a word about consoles — in either direction. The studio's only substantial public statement is the July 17, 2026 announcement through Korean outlet Inven, which covered the Steam launch window, the price being revealed later, and possible future Korean language support. Consoles were simply not part of it.

That total silence is itself the answer to most console questions right now. The studio is a new Korean team self-publishing its first and only game, with no website, no confirmed social media and a public presence that begins and ends at the Steam page. There is no console plan on record because there is barely a communications channel for one. The support email listed on Steam (mayondokuz@gmail.com) is the only direct line to the studio.

PC First, Consoles Later? — Speculation, Not Fact

To be transparent: "PC first, console ports later" is a genuine and common industry pattern, especially for small studios whose first PC launch funds later versions. It is reasonable to wonder whether The Dead We Knew follows it.

But reasonableness is not evidence. No one at MAY19 STUDIO has ever claimed a console version is coming, considered or planned. Technically the game is not out of reach for modern consoles — its minimum GPU target is a GTX 1070-class card — but porting also costs certification time and money a debut studio may not have. Console versions: TBC, in every sense.

Crossplay: Not Applicable Today

Cross-platform play only becomes a question when a game exists on more than one platform. The Dead We Knew currently ships on exactly one, so its online co-op (up to four players) is PC-to-PC by definition. If consoles ever arrive, crossplay would be an open question with no pre-existing answer.

The same applies to Steam Deck, which is PC rather than console: Valve has not yet rated compatibility, so its status is simply "Unknown" until tested.

How to Follow Console News

There is no console-specific channel to watch because there is barely any channel at all. The practical options:

  • Wishlist the game on Steam — date changes and any platform news surface on the store page first.
  • Watch the Steam page's news section, the developer's only proven outlet.
  • The studio's support email (mayondokuz@gmail.com) is listed on Steam for direct questions; a Discord server exists but its invite URL is TBC.

Until something changes, the official Steam page remains the authoritative source for all platform information.
