The Dead We Knew Xbox Release: No Console Version Yet

FILED: 2026-08-12 // CLEARANCE: PUBLIC

No — The Dead We Knew has not been announced for Xbox. As of August 2026 there is no Microsoft Store listing, no Xbox age rating and no developer statement mentioning Xbox Series X/S or Xbox One. The game — THE DEAD WE KNEW: Open World Survival, an open world survival title from Korean studio MAY19 STUDIO, built around scavenging, crafting, shelter building and a 24-hour day-night cycle — is confirmed for PC (Steam) only. Here is everything we know, and what is still open.

Xbox Status: Nothing Official

An Xbox version would leave footprints, and there are none. The Microsoft Store has no product page for the game. Console-focused rating boards such as ESRB and PEGI have no record of it — the game's only ratings anywhere (Brazil 14+, Germany USK 16, Indonesia 18+) all belong to the PC release. Metacritic lists THE DEAD WE KNEW: Open World Survival under one platform: PC.

The developer's own communications are just as empty on the subject. MAY19 STUDIO's only substantial public statement — its July 17, 2026 announcement via Korean outlet Inven — named Steam and nothing else. There is no Xbox release date, no Game Pass mention, nothing.

Why PC Only (For Now)

The developer explains the platform situation without ever addressing it directly. MAY19 STUDIO is a new Korean studio self-publishing its first and only game, with no publisher backing and essentially no public presence beyond the Steam page — no website, no confirmed social media.

The studio's single public statement covered the Steam launch and future language support — nothing more. Console certification and porting are exactly the kind of work a team like this defers or skips. A PC-only debut on Steam is the lowest-friction path to market, and that is the path the studio has visibly taken. Whether it stays that way depends on how the launch goes.

Will There Be an Xbox Version?

TBC — genuinely unknown. No official source has confirmed, denied or even hinted at an Xbox port. The common industry pattern of "PC first, consoles later if the game sells" is real, but the developer has never claimed to be following it, and we will not put words in their mouth. Indie survival games do sometimes reach consoles long after their PC debut — and sometimes never; either outcome is possible here.

Technically nothing stands in the way: the game's minimum target of a GTX 1070-class GPU sits comfortably below Xbox Series X hardware. But feasibility is not intent. Until MAY19 STUDIO announces something, any Xbox date or listing you encounter elsewhere is invented.

How to Play Right Now

The one confirmed way to play is PC via Steam, where the game releases September 17, 2026. Minimum specs: Windows 10, 12 GB RAM, GTX 1070-class GPU, DirectX 12, 20 GB of storage. Recommended: Windows 11, 24 GB RAM, RTX 2080-class GPU. The PC version supports solo play and online co-op for up to four, in eleven languages including Simplified Chinese.

To catch any future Xbox announcement, wishlist the game on Steam — the store page is the developer's only real communication channel, so platform news will appear there first. A Discord server exists but its invite is unconfirmed (TBC). All platform information is subject to the official Steam page.

END OF FILE — verify intel against in-game behavior after launch.
