The Dead We Knew PS5 Version: Not Announced Yet (2026)

FILED: 2026-08-12 // CLEARANCE: PUBLIC

No — The Dead We Knew has not been announced for PS5. As of August 2026 there is no PlayStation Store page, no age rating for a PlayStation version and no statement from the developer mentioning Sony's console. The game — THE DEAD WE KNEW: Open World Survival, an open world survival title built around scavenging, base building, hunting and farming, with solo play and 4-player online co-op — is confirmed for PC (Steam) only. Here is the full picture.

PS5 Status: Nothing Official

We checked every channel where a PS5 version would leave a trace. The PlayStation Store has no listing for the game. Rating boards that cover console releases — ESRB, PEGI and others — have no record of a PlayStation edition; the only ratings the game holds anywhere are for its PC release (14+ in Brazil, USK 16 in Germany, 18+ in Indonesia). Metacritic, which tracks platforms per game, lists the title for PC only. No other storefront or database shows a PlayStation entry either.

Just as telling is the silence from MAY19 STUDIO itself. The studio has made exactly one substantial public statement — the July 17, 2026 announcement via Korean outlet Inven — and it mentioned Steam, not consoles. There is no PS5 version to pre-order, wishlist or even reasonably expect on a date.

Why PC Only (For Now)

The PC-only launch fits what we know about the developer. MAY19 STUDIO is a new Korean studio, and THE DEAD WE KNEW is its first and only game — self-published, with no external publisher to fund or handle ports. Console ports cost money and certification time that a small debut team typically cannot spend before its first release.

The studio's entire public presence is the Steam page: no official website, no confirmed Twitter/X, no official YouTube channel. Its only substantial statement to date covered the Steam launch, pricing to follow, and possible Korean language support later — consoles never came up. A project run this lean is, for now, a PC project. That is an observation, not a criticism — but it does set expectations for console news.

Will There Be a PS5 Version?

Honest answer: TBC. No one official has said yes, no one has said no, and the developer has never even used the phrase "PC first" — the industry pattern where console ports follow a successful PC launch is well known, but applying it here would be pure speculation on our part.

What we can say is that nothing rules a PS5 port out either. The game targets mid-range PC hardware (a GTX 1070-class GPU at minimum), which is well within PS5 capabilities. If the Steam release goes well, a console port becomes plausible — but until MAY19 STUDIO says so, treat any "PS5 release date" you see online as fabricated.

How to Play Right Now

The only way to play The Dead We Knew at launch is on PC via Steam, where it releases September 17, 2026. Minimum requirements call for Windows 10, 12 GB of RAM and a GTX 1070-class GPU; recommended is Windows 11 with 24 GB of RAM and an RTX 2080-class card. The PC version supports eleven languages including Simplified Chinese, plus Family Sharing.

Wishlisting the game on Steam is also the best way to hear about any future platform news: a PS5 version, if it ever happens, would be announced where the developer actually talks — and today, that is the Steam page and nowhere else. All platform information is subject to the official Steam page.
